Web Site Purchasing

What can I make for you? Ask me, I'm interested in working on new ideas and talking to people! Using colour is a talent of mine, so that's what I do in fanciful and interesting ways.

I take payments through PayPal. I prefer that you write me to order so that I can calculate the shipping, and then send you an invoice that you can easily pay and keep as a detailed record of our transaction.

I do commissions but they take longer. If you're interested in something, write me and we can discuss it. If you place a custom order, I require that you pay the price in full before I began designing and working on your order.

Many of my commissions take hours of work. I use top quality materials and often hand-dye fabric, ribbon, thread, or runes to get unusual colours. After that I do a lot of hand painting and embroidery, and sometimes make beads or wirework to go with things. For the jewellery, I like to make and paint my own beads, it just depends on the colours and style. I also use gemstones and hand-dyed bone beads or polymer clay beads, and I like to mix materials for the best texture and variety of design.

If you need gold or silver findings because of metal allergies, that would be a custom order and more expensive, but I would be glad to help design something special for you.

Whatever you order or buy will have handmade details and custom design and supplies. I don't reproduce items or mass market them, they are all individual works of art. Custom design and service is about YOU at JJ ColourArt.

--Necklaces - I use glass beads, gemstones, wood, polymer clay, and sometimes image transfers for these. I generally use brass, copper, and steel findings.  I do bead embroidery as well as stringing and making beads. Colour is what I'm interested in--combining colours, matching a necklace to a piece of clothing to complement it--that sort of thing. I also can rework old jewellery that a customer sends me to update. Don't discard an older piece because it looks tired, I can make you something spectacular and new with it by combining old and new elements. This is a great way to keep your sentimental favourites and yet still be able to wear them fashionably.

--Earrings - I usually do earrings only for custom orders, unless I've made some for a show. I use wire hooks for earrings, so anything else would have to be a special order.

--Illustration - I also do small illustrations for books and web sites in coloured pencil and pen and ink with watercolour, or collage--whatever suits the job and the customer's needs. I don't do photo-realism, as I feel photographers do that well. I prefer to create illustrations that look like illustrations, not photographs. They are fresh and interesting, and not the like the usual stock photographs for web sites.

--Rune Sets - Usually Futhark (Viking) runes, hand-dyed and painted bone in a cotton velvet bag with embroidery, patchwork, and a drawstring, with or without extra embellishments. Fully lined in quality fabric to complement the design. I can also hand paint or dye the bags or linings for these. I often make sun prints of leaves from my garden that work up beautifully in bags of any type that I make.

--Ogham Sets - Similar to the rune sets in size and customization and bone shape. I can paint just the ogham characters or paint something with a theme. Small Art Nouveau, floral, or Mehndi designs work up nicely on ogham bones or runes. The bags in these sets are very much like my larger bags and have the same lush details and fabric.

--Tarot Bags - I prefer to do detailed artwork for these. Some have patchwork, embroidery, silk ribbon, hand painting etc. I prefer to work up fancier pieces of individual art geared to my customer's experiences and tastes. I have several examples on my Gallery pages, and most of these were done for specific card decks and took seven to twenty-four hours to make. My base size is 5 x 7 inches which I find fits most decks. I do make a larger size for taller decks if needed. I prefer to have a drawstring on one side only with generous amounts of beads and dangly things to embellish these treasures, but I can make a double-sided drawstring at your request.
